Weedon Island Rentals

1) The best option is to book your tour or rental in advance through our online portal Peek. This will cut your time at the site and get you out on the water quicker!

2) Check your email (including spam folder) for your confirmation email with the details of your booking and your waivers. Completing the waivers in advance will shorten your time checking in at the site!

3) Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time, park in the Culture and History Center lot, check in with ECOmersion staff at the launch site, and complete any remaining items as applicable! Make sure to bring sunscreen, towels, and water!

4) The ECOmersion team will provide safety and paddling instructions, as well as life vests, paddles, and your kayak or paddleboard! You will receive a map and species guide for rentals!

5) You will launch with your tour guide, or the rest of your group and enjoy your time on the waters of Weedon Island Preserve. Be sure to return your boat within the 15 minute grace period after your return time or you will be charged a late fee. These boats are reserved for guests throughout the day, and it’s unfair for anyone to keep them beyond their scheduled time.

Our equipment is cleaned and inspected in between each guest to provide you a safe and comfortable experience out on the water. We carefully select each boat type to provide guests with the best experience possible! ECOmersion provides guests with a map of the preserve, paddles, life vests, and the kayak or paddleboard of your choice. Dry bags and anchors may be rented from the site.

Weedon Island is an outdoor nature preserve in Florida. You should bring sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. The mangrove canopy provides shade, but it will still be warm most of the year. It’s Florida folks! The good thing about being on the water is you can take a swim in the water to cool off. Just make sure you have control of your watercraft and have a life preserver firmly fastened. To ensure guest safety, we do not run rentals or tours when winds are above 15 mph or during inclement weather.

The water in the preserve is generally shallow outside of the channel. If you fall out of your kayak, just stand up! You do not have to worry about alligators, sharks, or snakes biting you while in Weedon Island. Just sit back, paddle away, and enjoy your day on the water! Wearing your life preserver at all times is a must to ensure safety in the water.

Weedon Island has calm waters that are easy to paddle for all skill levels of paddlers, including first-timers! Guests of all ages are able to paddle at Weedon Island and life preservers are available for guests weighing 90 lbs or more. Please bring your own life preserver for any members of your party below 90 pounds!

Our staff have years of experience, and are American Canoe Association and First Aid certified to ensure your safety and to make sure your ECOmersion kayak adventure will be the highlight of your day. Manatees, dolphins, sting ray, and bald eagles are just a few of the magnificent creatures that you can expect to see when kayaking or paddle boarding in Weedon Island Preserve. Your St. Pete kayak and SUP rental will also get you up close with the mesmerizing Florida mangrove tunnels as you travel through this relaxing, picturesque, natural Florida ecosystem.

The best time to travel through the Weedon Island South Paddling Trail is when the tide is above 1′ of water. Tides can be reviewed at NOAA’s website.

There are other areas of Weedon Island Preserve that are accessible at all times. However, the mangrove tunnels require 1′ of water/ You are encouraged to verify the tide level before making your booking.

Drugs, alcohol, and pets are prohibited at Weedon Island Preserve. We reserve the right to refuse service to any guest who brings prohibited items on a kayak rental or tour without issuing a refund.
