Hurricane Helene and Milton Update

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Milton, our hearts go out to all of those affected. If you need any assistance during this difficult time, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Weedon Island Preserve kayak rentals and tours will re-open on Friday, November 1st. Due to damage to our regular launch site at Weedon, we will be launching by the fishing pier until further notice. There is limited parking at the end of the road, so please arrive early for your rental. You may need to park in the big parking lot by the Cultural and Natural History Center and walk 5-10 minutes down the road. Please be sure to bring everything you will need for your rental (including a cellphone to have on the water with you).

War Veterans Memorial Park kayak rentals and tours will remain temporarily closed until further notice, as we work to repair damages. Thank you in advance for your patience, we will be back as soon as we can.

Who You Might Encounter

Dolphins
While there is a wide variety of wildlife to be seen when outdoors and kayaking in Tampa Bay, among the favorites of tourists and locals alike are Bottlenose dolphins. These mammals are frequently seen swimming, jumping, and hunting while on tours and never fail to make visitors smile.
Manatees
Manatees also known as sea cows graze on a diet of seagrasses and other aquatic plants. These 'cow-like- mammals can spend up to eight hours a day grassing on sea grass, but don't let their slow nature fool you. Manatees are enchanting to see and visitors come from all over to spot these cows swimming in warm Florida waters.
White Pelican
If you come on a tour with us, or spend some time here in Pinellas county during the winter, you will likely see large flocks of White Pelicans in the area. These large birds are following their annual migration route from Canada and utilize preserves and protected areas as rest stops on their long voyage south.

Reviews

“ Down from Montreal, fantastic excursion with Natasha who was outstanding!! Thank you for the excellent tour, the easy pace and the information. If your in St Pete’s you should do this. August 2024
“ We had a fantastic experience. Our guide Jake was knowledgeable about marine life. This was my wife and my daughter's first time kayaking and they enjoyed the experience. We will definitely come back when we're in Florida again. December 2023
“ We had a fantastic experience from A to Z: the welcoming, organization, the tour itself, and mostly our guide Natasha were great. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining. She got plenty of photos for us and caught the dolphins jumping around my husband's kayak: magic!! Thanks, team! February 2022
“ We have lived in the area for 15 years and have never been to Weedon Preserve... We had a great time kayaking through the mangrove tunnels. Very unique experience. We took the tour as we had never been there and really never kayaked before. Natasha was a great guide and was very enthusiastic and accommodating. We definitely could sense the passion she had for nature and her job. We'll be back to the Preserve to not only walk the boardwalks but rent from ECOmersion. February 2022
“ Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The kayaks are in good condition and well maintained. Employees were washing them down as we were leaving. The kayaking was a great experience. We kayaked with out 2 daughters (age 13 and 15) and everyone had a great time. The mangrove trail was a amazing and we even saw a group of 3 manatees. August 2024
“ Awesome, Friendly & Affordable. Thank you guys for the experience, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. If I could give you guys 10 stars i totally would. December 2023
“ Located in Weedon Island Preserve, they rent paddle boards & kayaks. All of the equipment is maintained well and the staff were very friendly! They give you a map of the preserve so you don’t get lost... I enjoyed my time and suggest 2 hours as 1 hour definitely wasn’t long enough! October 2023
“ Our kayaking adventure was one for the books. Upon arrival the staff were so attentive and helpful. From helping us in and out of the kayak to explaining how to navigate through the mangroves. The entire team is so nice and patient. Highly recommend. June 2024
